Recent additions to the Nova catalogue: new albums from Nova Sounds, Paper Lantern, Calma Productions and more

The newest albums on Nova, from Nova Sounds’ Where the Sound Came From to Paper Lantern’s Insert Coin, Stay Cool and Calma’s Picks 9, and what to hear first.

The Nova catalogue grows a few albums at a time, and because every one is owned by Loopcode Bilişim Yazılım Mühendislik Eğitim ve Danışmanlık A.Ş. (Lodos Nova) rather than licensed, each arrival stays. This is a round-up of the most recent additions across the catalogue: where they sit, what they sound like, and which track to try first if you only have a minute on the preview.

Nova Sounds: Where the Sound Came From

The house archive's newest records look outward. Where the Sound Came From is eight tracks led by drums and percussion, a departure from the lo-fi and lounge sessions that make up much of the Nova Sounds catalogue. Alongside it arrive Japanese Journeys, ten pieces of new age with an East Asian colour, Mizizi Na Midundo, Swahili for Roots and Rhythms, and Cello over Four, which puts a cello over funk rhythms across eleven tracks. Taken together they widen the archive considerably. Start with Japanese Journeys if you like the calm side of Nova, Cello over Four if you do not.

Paper Lantern: Insert Coin, Stay Cool and Quietly On

Paper Lantern's two 2026 albums go in opposite directions. Insert Coin, Stay Cool is eight tracks of bass-led, arcade-tinted lo-fi, playful and a little retro. Quietly On is thirteen tracks of new age and ambient, the quietest record Paper Lantern has made and a good companion to the 2025 albums Lazy Lo-fi Chill and Fireside Loop. We profile the artist in this week's spotlight.

Calma Productions: Picks 9 and Between Waves

Calma Productions, from Italy, releases in a numbered series, and Calma' Picks 9 is the latest: eight tracks of piano-led folk and new age with saxophone and violin, in the warm, unhurried style of the earlier Picks. Between Waves, the one Calma album outside the series, is the other recent arrival. Both suit the Elegant Coffee hour.

Aurelion: The Wrong Kind of Silence and four more

Sweden's Aurelion added five albums this year, the largest of them The Wrong Kind of Silence at sixteen tracks, with Pattern, Intervals, Beyond the Horizon and Where It Softens around it. Together they make Aurelion one of the central names in Nova's ambient and piano music, and we write about the artist in a separate spotlight.

Thavernia: nine albums for an imagined world

All nine Thavernia albums date from 2026, which makes the project one of the year's biggest arrivals: 73 tracks of strings, saxophone and melancholy written for an original tabletop world, from Songs of Many People to Arcane Lands. If you enjoyed Eldrvættir's Norse cycle, this is the next place to go.

Heavier arrivals

On the loud side, Core Frequency released three albums of training music this year, Hit Harder Now, Pulse of Combat and Pedal Protocol, 62 tracks between them. Static Pulse added Vortex, Digital Ghosts and Off Pattern. Akira Nomura's Guitar Sessions, fourteen tracks of guitar-led metal, is the most striking single debut of the year on Nova. Our tour of rock on Nova places them.

Voices

Among vocal records, Louie Fontaine's Under the Same Skies and A Wink and a Smile bring classic jazz singing with brass, Ruthie Knox's Jukebox Fever and Shake the Night Away bring rock and roll swagger, and from Türkiye Lalin Tan's Düğüm and Aylin's Karantina continue two very different pop voices.

How to keep up

Three habits catch new music early. The albums page on the website lists everything with its year. The radio stations play new arrivals as they join the catalogue, and because every station is built from the catalogue, a new song you hear on Prime FM is one tap from your library. And this blog will keep publishing round-ups like this one as the catalogue grows.

Quiet records that arrived alongside

The calm side of the catalogue grew as much as the loud one. Wisps, the Scottish violin and piano duo, released three albums, The Last Warm Day, Solitary and Unsettled Tides. Yumae added both volumes of Breath & Horizon, and Doran Tan released Solo Piyano 1 and 2. From Türkiye, Avlu's two instrumental albums, Akşam Nefesi and Sabahın İlk Işığı, brought warmth from the Middle Eastern tradition. These are the records that fill the tender and piano pages, and the ones spas and hotels on Nova Business reach for first.
