Sharing music and links on Nova: songs, albums, playlists, stations and episodes

How Nova share links work: what opens in the app and what on the website, how links behave in six languages, and how to share a playlist or a station.

Every song, album, artist, playlist, radio station, podcast and episode on Nova has a share link, and the links are designed to do the right thing whoever receives them. A friend with the app lands in the app; a friend without it lands on a public page with a preview and a short route to signing up. This guide explains how the links work, how to share each kind of thing, and a few habits that make sharing more useful.

What a share link does

A Nova share link points at one specific thing, a track, an album, a playlist, and opens it wherever the recipient is.

  • On a phone with the Nova app installed, the link opens the app directly at that item.
  • On a phone without the app, or on a computer, the link opens the public page on lodosnova.com, with the cover, the details and a 30-second preview, and an invitation to listen in full with a free account.
  • Links keep working. Loopcode Bilişim Yazılım Mühendislik Eğitim ve Danışmanlık A.Ş. (Lodos Nova) owns its catalogue, so an album you shared last year does not disappear because a licence elsewhere has ended.

Sharing a song

In the app, every track has a share button in its menu and in the player. On the website, the share button on a track page copies the link or opens the device's share sheet. A song link is the most common thing to send, and the preview on the public page means the recipient hears the song before deciding anything.

Sharing an album or an artist

Album and artist pages have the same share control. An album link opens the running order; an artist link opens the artist's page with their albums and recent tracks. For a recommendation, an album link is usually better than a song link, because the recipient can play the record through rather than hearing one track out of context. Our guide to finding artists and albums describes those pages.

Sharing a playlist

Public playlists, the ones curated by Nova such as Cozy Work and Elegant Coffee, can be shared by anyone. Your own playlists can be shared when they are public; a private playlist is yours alone, and the share option tells you if a list is not visible to others. Sharing a playlist is the best way to pass on a sequence rather than a song; the story playlists we describe in playlists that tell a story are built for exactly that.

Sharing a radio station

Stations have share links too. A station link opens the live stream in the app, mid-programme, so the recipient hears what you are hearing at that moment; on the website it opens the station's public page. Because everyone listening to a station hears the same song at the same time, sharing Jazz FM with a friend is as close as Nova comes to listening together.

Sharing a podcast or an episode

Podcast shows and individual episodes each have links. An episode link opens that episode, and if the recipient has already started it on another device, playback resumes where they stopped. The podcasts guide covers the rest.

Links and languages

Nova is available in English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish and Italian, and share links are language-neutral. A page shared from the Turkish website opens for a German friend in German, with the same music; the recipient's own language setting decides. This is also true of the website's internal links, which is why a playlist page in Spanish links to Spanish artist pages.

Sharing from a business

Venues on Nova Business sometimes want to tell customers what is playing. The share link of the venue's playlist is the simplest answer: put it on a card by the till or on a social post, and a customer who liked the sound can hear the same list at home with a free account. Personal listening is free; the business licence is only for playing in the venue itself.

Habits that help

  • Share albums for recommendations and songs for moments.
  • For a mood, share a playlist; for company, share a station.
  • Before sharing your own playlist, check it is public and give it a name that says what it is for.
  • If someone sends you a link and you want to keep it, like the track or follow the playlist from the page it opens; the link itself is not a bookmark.
